LaCie 6TB Ethernet Disk Works with Apple’s Time Machine

Wednesday, January 7, 2009 0 comments

That's right folks, you should have gotten the whole news from the title there! LaCie has revealed it's new ethernet disk which can indeed hold up to 6TB of your stuff and it's fully compatible with Apple's Time Machine. With that much space available you'll be able to save all sorts of thing from your past and revert to them whenever it's needed.

Apple hasn't officially said anything about it but the press release seems pretty clear about the Time Machine backups. This NAS will work with any OS and it will support a total of 100 users with customizable access rights and about 25 users accessing it at the same time.

LaCie also has a 2TB and a 4TB version. The prices go from $749 to $1,100 or to $1,500 depending on which model you choose. Feel like getting one? Just call that Santa. He's the fat dude that goes around dressed in red and holding the keys to a customized vintage edition of a reindeer powered sleigh.

Wait what? I'd have to sit down to order this LCD. What will that screen do for me? Well that 3DHD autosteroscopic LCD will get you a TV without an actual screen. Alioscopy is going to bring a 40 inch model to play with at CES 2009, so make sure you look them up if you're in town. There's no word on pricing and I wouldn't dare asking about an actual release date.

Philips Prestigo SRT9320 Remote Control Packs a Touchscreen Too

Do you want a touchscreen on your universal remote control? I am not sure I want one. After all I don't want to be looking at the touchscreen when I can watch TV and simply feel the buttons on my regular remote. Regardless of my taste in remotes Philips has designed a new universal remote control. The Prestigo SRT9320 is the remote that has a 2.8 inch color touchscreen right on top of those regular buttons I was talking about.

The screen is supposed to take care of the favorite channels and the custom commands. The remote can control 20 devices and you can be programmed without connecting it to a PC. The remote control is a little expensive at $249 but then again touchscreens aren't cheap. It will arrive sometime in Q1 of 2009 so better save some cash for the remote of the future.
