Mini Projector from Castrade Sits Nicely in a Wine Glass

Tiny projector? Well don't mind if I do! I'll do require a glass to go with that, preferably a wine glass. The CV-MP01 LCoS VGA projector from Castrade can very well sit in a wine glass. It's really small and really portable. It can deliver a 640 x 480 VGA image and it will only get you about 10 lumens of brightness. Sure you'll say it's nothing impressing there but this mini-projector wil get you through the day.

It uses LED lighting and it will last for about 10,000 hours of use and it costs $280 to own.

HDTV Price Still Up Due to Bad Economy

I bet last year you were expecting that by now HDTV prices would have significantly dropped. Well bad news for us all here. Prices are still higher than they should have been due to the bad economy we've been having this year.

Some analysts over at DisplaySearch said that TV sales for 2009 are projected to drop by 4%. LCD TV sale are expected to grow only 2% next year compared with 22% in 2008 and 77% in 2007. The prices will stay up as panel factories are cutting back on production. The less they produce, the less efficient the whole business becomes and the higher the final prices:

Mr. Semenza [of DisplaySearch] expects that prices for LCD sets 32 inches and smaller will remain fairly stable. Retail prices on TVs 42 inches and larger will not decline as fast as they have in years past.

We hate that don't we? Bad economy! You've been a really bad economy this year!

OLEDs to Treat Cancer and Acne

I bet you didn't know exposure to light could also be beneficial for your skin. And in case you knew that, we have an update on that story. This time an U.K. team is wearing OLED stickers that once glued to your skin will cure cancer and acne. That's called photodynamic therapy and usually it's done in hospitals during longer periods of time and under large light sources.

Using OLED patches is both energy effective and patient-friendlier than the alternative. The patient could do it from home once Lumicure, the developer, will release the technology. These OLED patches are supposed to be out on the market by Q4 2009 but we have no pricing for it yet.
