Harman Kardon's DMC 1000 media centre has gone on sale in Blighty.
The 'sleek, single box' unit sports a 250GB hard drive and widespread compatibility. Content can be taken from portable media players including the iPod (via an optional 'Bridge' docking station), memory card, USB or from CD-R/RW for use on the hop.
It can rip CDs, be used as a DVD player, supports all video formats and upscales standard definition discs.
Harman assures it's easy to use via the supplied remote or touch-sensitive front panel.
Available now, the Harman Kardon DMC 1000 looks the business, but at £1,800 it's definitely for those not feeling the crunch.
