Onkyo TX-SR876 & TX-NR906 Receivers
Onkyo has announced another world first with the launch of its two new THX Ultra2 Plus receivers with built-in ISF video calibration, the TX-SR876 and TX-NR906.
Promising to make their competitors look 'woefully under-endowed', both models are feature packed in order to deliver the best AV results possible.
They each provide state-of-the-art HDMI repeaters for four HD video sources (both have dual HDMI outs), the new THX Loudness Plus processing system, Audyssey's new Dynamic EQ and Dynamic Volume technologies, HQV Reon-VX video upscaling to 1080p, plus multi-room features.
The set-up and calibration facilities on each are also the first to meet the requirements of the Imaging Science Foundation (ISF).
The TX-SR876 is rated at 7x 210W per channel and features Onkyo's Wide Range Amplifier Technology (WRAT) and myriad distortion reducing feats.
Also included is an onboard decoder for Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio, a trio of Texas Instruments Aureus 32-bit DSP chips for processing, advanced Burr-Brown PCM1796 192kHz/24-bit DACs for all channels, parallel push-pull amplifier with three stage Inverted Darlington circuitry, bi-amping/bridging capability, support for three separate zones, music optimiser for MP3/AAC tracks, RS-232 port and RIHD control system.
On top of all of that, the 7x 230W per channel rated TX-NR906 also offers a massive Toroidal power transformer, network audio capability certified for Windows Vista, front panel USB, audio streaming via Ethernet, solid brass bus plate for earthing and gold-plated AV inputs, outputs and speaker terminals. Capable in the extreme, both models are available now in black or silver, the TX-SR876 retailing at £1,000 and the TX-NR906 at £1,400.
