FMJ 18 Amp

Arcam is undergoing a 'performance upgrade programme', which admittedly sounds like some hideous group team building weekend in Blackpool for a nameless, faceless IT marketing group, but is in fact a simple process of making the basic stuff better. Take for example the entry-level DiVA hi-fis, which Arcam is now replacing with the FMJ (Full Metal Jacket) models that deliver better sound and build quality.

The new FMJ A18 integrated amplifier now serves up a 50W per channel continuous output thanks to an upgrade in spec and componentry that includes moving magnet phono stage, resonance damped chassis, low-noise toroidal transformer, flexible logic controlled pre-amp and CR10 system remote control. The FMJ CD17 CD player also gets a spit 'n polish with the latest Wolfson 8741 24bit DAC, ultra precise clocking, low-noise toroidal transformer and CR10 system remote control.

The FMJ upgrade means both models also benefit from Arcam's 'Mask of Silence' and 'Stealth Mat' EMC damping, reducing electromagnetic interference to 'ensure the smallest details in the recording are reproduced faithfully'. Also in attendance are SDS damped steel low resonance chasses.

Both models are available now, the A18 amp that replaces the DiVA A70 retailing at £450 and the CD17 CD player that replaces the DiVA CD73 at £500.
