MP3 Logo Campaign
In an effort to clear up any confusion for the growing customer base, seven of the UK's biggest music download retailers have launched a campaign and identifying logo that labels music in the MP3 format. Slightly unnecessary you may think, but the move is designed 'to help consumers make the most of the growing availability of music in the universally compatible MP3 format'.
The retailers are: Play.com, HMV.com, 7digital.com, Digitalstores.co.uk, Tescodigital.com, Tunetribe.com and Woolworthsdownload.co.uk.
The easy to identify MP3 logo will show consumers at a glance that downloads will play on every PC, Mac and virtually all digital music players.
Created by ERA Digital, the digital arm of the Entertainment Retailers Association, the launch of the new logo is supported by UK record company trade associate the BPI and is hoped to be a template for an international launch.
