Revo BLOK

Now there are admittedly a million and one iPod speaker systems on the market that do much the same job at a variety of price points. But when Revo, whose digital radios are excellent, releases a new model, we're always interested.

The new Revo BLOK is housed in an American Walnut cabinet and uses patented technology from Cambridge-based NXT plc in the shape of the 'Balanced Radiator' loudspeaker that promises a 'rich, natural sound'. The BR low-profile loudspeaker is capable of generating the full sonic spectrum from deep bass notes to high trebles from a single transducer.

Combining the NXT's flatpanel speaker with the pistonic movement of a conventional loudspeaker, Revo claims BLOK distributes a true hi-fi sound, with the 40-watt amplifier meaty enough to fill a room.

All dials and knobs are CNC machined aluminium, and the infamous Revo remote, the KONTROL is a cool circular curio that's remarkably easy to use and a design statement in its own right.

The BLOK charges and plays all iPod models and is supplied with adaptors. It costs £200 and is on sale exclusively from John Lewis and its own website.
