Tesco has been building up its Tesco Digital online service for a while now, with plans to expand its film and television service thanks to a new deal signed with big hitters Sony Pictures Television International and Warner Bros.

The new launch partners for the download service will bring them a swathe of hit films, from Spider-Man 3 to Superbad, alongside TV shows like Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, which will be available a single day after airing on TV.

Once downloaded, users will own the shows and films, which will cost £1.87 for a TV show episode, £6.97 for a back catalogue film, and £10.97 for a new release.

Reports suggest the service will also extend to movie rental in the 'coming months'.
