Limited Edition Designer Sky+ HD Boxes
Pinch us and call us Santa, is it really so late into the year that Sky is already releasing its annual pre-Christmas limited edition designer satellite boxes again? In a word, yes.
This year Sky has truly surpassed itself in the oddball stakes with a new collection of Sky+ HD boxes featuring exclusive and distinctive (read: horrible) prints from four of the UK's 'most visionary designers and image makers'. Trouble is, just because it's visionary doesn't necessarily mean you'd want it nestled under your pride and joy plasma in the front room.
The new collection combines - according to Sky - the creative talents of successful emerging designer Henry Holland, of cutting edge duo PPQ, the exquisite and luxury designer Erdem, and avant-garde fashion illustrator Julie Verhoeven. Avant-garde? Is someone pulling our collective HDMI cable here - this is, after all, a satellite box, non?
The limited edition Sky+ HD boxes are on sale now available exclusively via Sky's website. Prices run from £75 to £150 when taken with a Sky TV and HD Mix subscription, which costs from £27 monthly for the basic package. Really though, we have to say in case you haven't worked it out yet, that although we can fully appreciate the marriage of form and function for the sake of both, these look like something designed for a kid's bedroom at best.
