Samsung Ultra Thin OLED
We brought you news of Samsung's latest prototype 40in OLED screen unveiling last week, but if you prefer super-thin to super-sized, the Korean giant has you covered.
At the FPD International 2008 show, it unveiled a four-inch, 0.05mm thick display that's so thin it actually flaps around in a breeze, which Samsung handily provided to prove its point.
The screen has a 480x272pixel resolution, 100,000:1 contrast ratio and 200cd/m2 brightness. It made Sony's 0.3mm model look positively portly in comparison.
Not content with that, the company also demo'd a new transparent AMOLED screen, which can - as the image aptly indicates - sit over glass to make moving windows. The application possibilities are simply mind-boggling.
